This message is concerning all characters currently staying at the Institute, or that plan on staying there in the future.
All students 18 and under are welcome to enroll at the Institute. They will be given a dorm room to stay in, and they will take classes. There is a 10 PM curfew for all students. They must be in their dorms by this time.
While a lot of students do still have connections with their families, there are also many who have the Institute as their only home. For these students, the Institute takes care of all expenses, including clothing and entertainment. The younger students are taken on shopping trips by staff members. However, the older students are treated differently. To avoid causing any embarrassment and such, the older students are just given a certain amount of money, which they then can use to go shopping with their friends, instead of with a staff member.
Anyone over 18 must have a reason to stay there. The Xavier Institute For Higher Learning is a school. It's mansion and surrounding grounds are not just for everyone's use.
The following are reasons why people over 18 may stay at the Institute:
-If your character was invited by Xavier, or a member of the X-Men team, to stay. This could be for the mutant's safety, perhaps. Or maybe they have an obvious mutation, that cannot be hidden, and they have no where else to go.
-If your character was a student, but now still needs help learning to control their powers. Any issues with mutation are an acceptable reason to stay at the Institute.
-If your character wishes to stay to become a teacher. A different member of the staff. An advisor. Or even to become a trainee, to one day become a member of the X-Men team.
If your character is over 18, and does not fall under any of those reasons listed above, then they have no justification for staying at the Institute. If your character doesn't have one of the reasons listed above, yet you feel they should still be allowed to stay, then the character needs to speak with Xavier to get things straightened out.
