We understand that there are quite a few different ways that people RP. Some of you may RP exactly like we do, others may RP a little differently. Below I will explain how we RP, and how we want you to RP while on our forum.
First things first, when you register on our forum, please make your SN (Screen Name) the name of your character. Don't sign-up with ILuvGambit1111 or CoolChick21. This is a RPG forum, which means your account will be your character's account. We are aware that some RP forums allow you to sign-up with your normal nickname, we, however, do not. So please sign-up with character's name, nothing else.
Since this also concerns accounts, I'll put this second. Here, you must make a different account for each of your characters. The only exception we will allow, is if two of your characters will be together nearly all of the time. Say they're siblings, or very close friends. Other than that, you must have different accounts for all your characters.
Now, we'll talk about pictures. Here, we call the picture of your character a PB (stands for Portrayed By). When you see "Portrayed By:" in our form, it simply means the name of the person you are using for your character's picture. We need the name, so that we can put it on our PB List. That list lets people know, who they cannot use when making a new character. This is helpful, so that two people do not try to use the same PB.
Still talking about pictures; the pictures in your profile must be of either your character's PB, or of something that goes along with your character. Random images in your profile are not allowed. They will either be removed by us, or one of us will ask you remove it. Keep in mind, that you do not have to have a picture in your profile. It is completely optional. Although, if you'd really like a picture, and are having trouble finding someone that fits your character, you can contact one of SC's staff members (preferably either Buffy or TC), and they will be glad to help you find someone.
Now to Signatures. We do not allow you to have huge signature pictures. Believe it or not, some people do still have dial-up, and huge pictures slow down their computers. We currently don't have a limit on the size of pictures allowed, but anything over 300 X 240 is most likely too big. If you are unsure about the size of your picture, chances are it's too big. If your picture is too big, you will be asked to either remove it or resize it. If you have a picture you want to use, but it's too big, contact either Buffy or TC, and they will be glad to resize it for you.
Now we'll talk about your actual RPing. When posting your character, you need to write in third person. First person is hard for others to reply to, plus it just doesn't go with the whole flow of RPing. When you write in first person, it's putting the reader into the character's position. When writing in third person, the reader is reading the character's actions, and therefore able to reply with their own character's actions. Hopefully that made sense. Either way, you need to write in third person when RPing on our forum.
Last of all, unlike some other RP forums, there isn't a unnecessary huge length you are required to write. We only ask that you write four sentences. We understand that some of you are new to RPing, therefore, don't write as much as others. We're not going to turn you away from our forum, just because you're new. No, that would be rude. However, we would like if you do try to improve your skills while RPing here. Take note of some of our more advanced members, and read some of their posts. If you try, soon enough, you'll be posting just like them. It really isn't that hard at all.
I think that covers everything. I hope you understand how we RP now. And I hope you enjoy your time here at SC.
