The world is changing. Evolution has begun. Humans of a new race are appearing more and more every day. Mutants, they're called. And these mutants have powers and abilities unnatural to a normal human. One may be able to move things with his mind, while another can disrupt the very ground you walk on. Some of them look like you and me. One might be your co-worker. Maybe you passed one on the street and never even had a second thought. One might even be your neighbor or your friend. Others are disfigured. Some so hideous they don't even look human anymore! Some have scales, some are green, some have claws and fangs. These particular mutants are constantly put through acts of senseless cruelty because they're different. They can't help that they have green skin anymore than you can help that you were born with brown hair. And most of these mutants just want to be accepted as a normal human being. Most of them are willing to abide by the law and live out their life like anyone else would. But there are others. These mutants use their abilities to their advantage. They break laws and hurt people. They think they're above humans. They think they're the better race and can do what they want. Just as with normal humans, there are mutants who are good and mutants who are bad. Which one do you want to be?
To promote the peaceful affirmation of mutant rights, to mediate the co-existence of mutants and humans and to protect society from antagonistic mutants. - Professor X's Dream
Professor X created Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning with that dream in his mind. He created it as a safe haven for mutants, some of which that have no where else to go. Within his school, mutants are not only given a normal education, but also taught how to control their powers and how to function in a society that sees them as different. However, on the outside, the school looks like nothing more than a private boarding school. No one knows otherwise, and it is to be kept that way, for the safety of the students. For if it became public what Xavier's Institute is really about, who knows what kind of hate would be brought down upon it.
