Hallo, O venerable staff members!
I didn't catch this issue addressed in the rules or FAQ--if I missed it, I apologize. Do you allow solo threads? That is, a thread featuring only one character (with occasional NPC's) for the purpose of getting the character developed/established?
Also, as a side note, is it possible to incorporate a major canon character like Professor Xavier as an NPC, or will we need to get an admin to play him any time he appears in a thread?

I think-- and the almighty admins are allowed to contradict me of course-- that for a cannon to be used, if taken, the admin or person who plays said character, has to play them. If they're not, then I'm unsure.
As for doing a solo thread in the first place, I don't see a problem with it. I'm not sure whether that would be in the actual rp section, or if there is a designated section for it, so people don't get confused about joining it.

Ah, gotcha.
Yeah--the thread would basically be marked [closed] and have only the one player. I've seen some sites frown on that, though, so I wanted to check first.
Also, a cousin to this question is the possibility of self-RP. Supposing I reenter one of my other old characters, could I write a thread between him and Carver?

Again, this is open to contradiction, but I don't see a problem with that. It's up to you to do that, after all.

Yep, yep, VR is right. We don't see a problem with threads with only one character, or with self-RPs. Post away! As for the other question, then yes, typically a taken canon character needs to be posted by whoever plays them (and untaken ones can be played as an NPC). Wheels and Magneto are a bit different, though. Buffy and I play them, since they're the two major leaders in the game and choices they make can affect things greatly. If somebody wishes to post them as NPC charries, for a conversation or whatever, that would be fine. Although, the NPC cannot make a major decision. If it's something huge that's going to affect a lot in the game, then it needs to be posted by a player. Makes sense, I hope? I'm all sickie and have a head full of meds, so hopefully there's no nonsense in there. LMAO
