We are now allowing anyone who wants to to have a chance at playing a canon character. Whether you're a regular on the forums or brand new, it no longer matters. Anyone can apply for one now. :)

Applying for a canon is pretty much like making your own original character. There are just a few slight differences.

First of all, we're going to be more stricter when it comes to approving canons than we are with original characters. This is because we want to ensure that you are capable of playing the canon character as it should be played. We don't want to approve someone who is going to play the canon out of character. Now, don't worry. You don't have to be perfect! We realize no one can really get the character down completely perfect. You just need to at least have the basic idea of how the character should be.

Secondly, the form for a canon is just slightly different from the original character form. We've added a 'Role-Play sample' part, 'Role-Play Reference', as well as a simple question about why you want to play the canon. The 'Reference' part is optional. We would like if you could give us at least a link to an active RP you are currently on. It's okay, if you can't, however.

Third, when writing up your form, try to put as much of it in your own words as possible. Things like, the Mutation/Powers part, we'll let slide if you copy it from a Wiki page or something (remember to give the page credit!). The rest, though, should be in your own words as much as possible. DO NOT falsify your form. This means, don't copy and paste it from somewhere else. Your form is supposed to depict how you would RP on our forums. Believe me, we will soon figure out if you copied it from another place and when we do, the canon will quickly be taken away from you. So please save us the hassle and don't do that.

Lastly, this was an old rule that we're keeping. If you apply for a canon, you must keep that canon active. Canons are important on SC, especially if you're playing an X-Men team member. So because of this, if you are inactive for two weeks without notice as to why, we will take the character away from you and allow someone else the chance to play it.
